Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 October 2026
Aurum collects very little personal information, and this page lists all of it. We handle what we do collect in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and its 13 information privacy principles (IPPs), which govern how New Zealand organisations collect, use, store and disclose personal information.
What we collect
This website has no accounts, no logins and no contact forms. The personal information we handle comes from three sources only:
- Server logs. Like almost every website, our hosting infrastructure records your IP address, the pages you request, the date and time, your browser type and the referring page. These logs are generated automatically when you visit.
- Analytics cookies. We use analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. This involves cookies and an anonymised view of your IP address and device type. Details, and how to block them, are in our cookie policy.
- Email, if you contact us. If you email contact@aurumcoffee.co.nz, we receive your email address, your name if you give it, and whatever you write. We only hold what you choose to send.
We never ask for, and do not want, sensitive information. If you are complaining about a gambling operator, send dates and amounts — not your full card number, passwords or identity documents.
Why we collect it (purposes)
Under IPP 1, personal information may only be collected for a lawful purpose connected with our activities. Ours are:
- keeping the website running, secure and free of abuse (server logs);
- understanding which pages are useful so we can improve them (analytics);
- answering your message — corrections, review requests and operator complaints (email).
We use your information for those purposes and no others. We do not build profiles of visitors, and we do not send marketing email — if you write to us, you will only ever receive a reply.
No sale or trading of personal information
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information to anyone, and we never will under this policy. We disclose personal information only where the Privacy Act permits: to the service providers that host this site and our email (who may process it only for us), or where the law requires disclosure.
How long we keep it (retention)
IPP 9 requires us not to keep personal information longer than its purpose needs. In practice:
- Server logs are kept for up to 90 days for security, then deleted or anonymised.
- Analytics data is retained in aggregated, anonymised form; underlying identifiers are kept no longer than 14 months.
- Email correspondence is kept for up to two years, because corrections and operator complaints sometimes need the history, then deleted. You can ask us to delete your correspondence sooner at any time.
Storage and security
Our site is served and our email hosted by established providers whose servers may be located outside New Zealand. Where information leaves New Zealand, IPP 12 applies: we only use providers whose safeguards are comparable to the Privacy Act's. Access to correspondence and logs is limited to the people who run this site.
Your rights: access and correction
Under IPP 6 and IPP 7 of the Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to ask us for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it. Email contact@aurumcoffee.co.nz with "Privacy request" in the subject line. We will respond within 20 working days, as the Act requires — in most cases much sooner, since the honest answer for most visitors is that we hold nothing beyond short-lived logs.
Complaints
If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, email us first — most issues are a quick fix. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, which oversees the Privacy Act: privacy.org.nz, or 0800 803 909. The Commissioner's service is free.
Links to other websites
This site links to gambling operators and support services we do not control. Once you leave aurumcoffee.co.nz, this policy no longer applies — the destination site's own privacy policy does, and gambling operators collect far more personal information than we ever will, including identity documents and payment details. Read their policy before you sign up.
Children
This site is R18 and not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18; if you believe we hold some, email us and we will delete it.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the revised version will appear on this page with a new "last updated" date. Questions about privacy on this site go to contact@aurumcoffee.co.nz.
